Sono proprio i Drive-By Truckers al completo, dietro la sigla Stiff Boys, a fargli da backing band in un disco in cui sofferte ballate si alternano a vivaci pezzi alt country.
È stata anche la prima volta che i Truckers hanno registrato con Jason Isbell da quando ha lasciato la band nel 2007; Isbell suona la chitarra slide nella bruciante ballata "Dead Confederate", che Hood dice essere "una delle migliori canzoni sul pregiudizio e l'odio razziale che ho abbia mai sentito.”
